Sandra is a Licensed Practical Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Sandra completed her nursing education in 2008 and has worked in many different areas of nursing. Her passion was always to work with moms and babies.
She completed her Labor Doula certificate in 2011, and in 2013 obtained a position on the postpartum unit of the Family Birthing Unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She was one of 5 nurses chosen from a group of over 200 applicants and was then awarded a full-time position and worked there for 4 years.
In 2016, Sandra completed her Lactation Consultant education and became certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2018. During this year, she also began teaching breastfeeding classes for feeding support.
Obtaining a position with the Community Birthing Program in 2017, Sandra was able to provide postpartum nursing and breastfeeding support, and continues to support and care for families with their postpartum experience.
Sandra is a mother of 3 children. She had her own difficulties with breastfeeding and tried to find support each time. Unable to find the help she needed, she realized what was missing for moms on their feeding journey. Her experiences drove her to become a Lactation Consultant and to continue support for postpartum care. Sandra strives to help the dyad in a holistic way. Continuing to work with the Midwifes and Naturopathic doctors also help as consultations can be directed in a more natural way.
